Friday April 26 in Brisbane at Archerfield Supa Cheap Speedway the V8 Dirt Modified teams were prepared for the two night Championship meeting . The best V8 Modified drivers from around the country have parked their V8s in the pit and are ready to battle for that prize of prizes the Australian Championship trophy and the right to carry the number ONE proudly.
Night one and Kevin Britten and David Clarke showed their hands early with Championship winning drives to end the night as joint top points scores . Defending Champion Lismore’s Mark Robinson put in a strong night and will be hard to take the title from on Saturday night
April 27 is the Championship night and every lap is vital as the teams give their Dirt cars the final check over . The 35 lap final will take the best from each driver and car .
The Championship feature had Britten and Clarke on the front row with Robinson back in row three .As soon as the green flag was dropped Britten had his V8 gassed up and stormed off the line and gave Clarke little chance and raced away to an early lead .
Robinson had moved quickly and was bothering Clarke looking for a way past . Lap four and Robinson would force a pass and set about making up the lead Britten had.built .
Robinson was looking a real threat as he moved in on Britten and by lap 10 the defending Champion had the lead and he was on championship winning pace .
Britten chased Robinson all the way to the chequer without looking a danger..A number of late restarts due to cautions were no worry to the Lismore driver and his third National Title was his as the chequer was shown. Britten was a solid second after looking early like he might be a title contender. Mick Kiraly followed the pair home for third .
The second generation V8 Dirt Modified driver now had his third national Title and his Castrol Edge Trover never missed a beat as Robinson challenged the clay and the cream of V8 Dirt Modified drivers .for the right to carry Australia One !
