Where is the Action

Speedways in Australian and New Zealand have been parked away for the winter break with race fans warming themselves in anticipation of the seasons racing returning sometime in October.

Our Speedway interest in the cold winter recess is diverted across the Pacific to the wide variety of speedway taking place in the US.woo_large STP image

Most interest will be on the STP World of Outlaws Sprint Cars race across the US at over 90 actions packed meeting with prize money on offer of over 6 Million Dollars

Australian drivers Kerry and Ian Madson and Brooke Tatnell challenge for their share of the huge prize money on offer.

The Golden State King of the West Series for 410 Sprint cars a series of equal standard has another Australia Peter Murphy as a major contender as he races Rico Abreau, Kyle Hirst and Jonathan Allard. Peter Murphy has terrific support from Australian and New Zealand fans as his Dalton Race teams strive for a top position on the KWS.

North West race fans will be heading this weekend to Skagit Speedway, many taking advantage of the recently rebuild section of the bridge over the Skagit river as they make their way Speedway bound.

The National Dirt Cup with $20,000 on offer has attracted the best in the North West including Shane Stewart, Aussie favorite driving the Paul Silva’s race car and Jonathan Allard head the entry list.

The Pennsylvania Posse PA Posse Logo  will continue their racing on June 28 when the Pennsylvania Speed fest simply Titled Speed Week brings together racers for a 9 event series over 10 days.

The Posses includes recent STP winner Danny Dietrich, Greg Hodnett and ” Fast “Freddie Rahmer both well known to Australian fans.

Sprint car teams and their drivers no matter what sanctioned group they race in will all head towards  Knoxville in August for what must be the undisputed top Sprint Car Show , the running of the 53rd  Knoxville Nationals to be  held over four days before sold out audiences. The 11th annual Sue Thiel Memorial on Sunday (June 23) at Angell Park Speedway brings together the POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget Series, Honda USAC National Midget Series and the Stark Automotive Group/Mid-State Equipment Badger Midget Series, arguably the nation’s top three Midget organizations, for their first of four tri-sanctioned events this year.

Heading the tri-sanctioned events will be recently crowned USAC Indiana Speed Week Champion Christopher Bell in his Keith Kunz /Bullet/Toyota .Bell will have his mind focused on keeping Bryan Clauson,Andrew Felker and Zach Daum, all winner during the Indiana Speed Week behind his Toyota

Throw into the mix Caleb Armstrong, Jerry Coons Jr and Brad Kuhn and excitement is guaranteed

Missing from the event will be the touring Australian’s Matt Jackson , Jamie McKinley and the New Zealand’s Michael Pickens and Brad Mosen , all headed home after a their month long tour .

The racing in the States will be hot and is sure to warm up all speedway fans  down under.
